Detached in 1948 from Château Duhart-Milon, Grand Cru Classé de Pauillac, currently owned by Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Haut-Bages Monpelou was bought by Marcel Borie, father-in-law of Emile Castéja, at this historic property of the Castéja family, since the 17th century in Pauillac. Emile Castéja took his sucession and completed the estate of the surrounding plots to reform the original vineyard. The vineyard grew from 10 to 15 hectares.

Little brother of Château Batailley, Grand Cru Classé de Pauillac, the vineyards are located in the heart of Pauillac and the property is managed by the technical team of Château Batailley.

The vineyard consists respectively of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Philippe Castéja continues the tradition of quality, culture and winemaking applied to all vineyards of the family, The wine produced is elegant and structured, thanks to a particularly studied vine stocks.
