Domaine Drouhin Oregon

The Drouhin family's viticultural roots run deep, taking root in the finest vineyards of Burgundy over a century ago. Over the years, a clear link, a continuum, has been established between Maison Joseph Drouhin, and now Domaine Drouhin, in Oregon.

The winery, located in the Dundee Hills, creates elegant and refined wines, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, vinified in France. For more than 25 years, the Drouhin family has been bringing experience to their vineyards in the Willamette Valley, southwest of Portland, Oregon.

Skills are refined, methods evolve, but what is important is to pass on from generation to generation: the search for excellence, intellectual curiosity, a sense of values, passion, respect for the terroir. "Robert J. Drouhin.

The Oregon estate was created in the late 1980s, but their wine roots were planted in Burgundy a century earlier, when Joseph Drouhin left Chablis for Beaune and founded Maison Joseph Drouhin in 1880. His son, the brilliant Maurice Drouhin, succeeded him. He dedicated his life to making good wine. In 1957, Robert Drouhin became the third generation to run the company. He first "discovered" Oregon during a visit in 1961, and then during the blind tastings of 1979 and 1980 in Paris and Burgundy (the latter organized by Robert) which put Oregon wines on the world map. Robert recognised that it was Oregon, more than California, whose soils and climate could break free.
