Straddling the rivers Cávado and Homem, near Braga, PAÇO DE PALMEIRA is one of the most magnificent architectural monuments in the Minho region.

Planned as residence intended for the leisure of Princes, Archbishops and the most illustrious aristocracy from Minho, the palace combines simple lines from its architecture with the refinement of its interiors, breathing the beauty of the surrounding landscape and the spirituality of retreats that become diluted in the traces of time.

PAÇO DE PALMEIRA has a history dating back to the XVII century when José de Bragança, Prince of the Royal House and Archbishop of Braga from 1741 to 1758, bought the property to install his Summer house. Thereafter, the property had several residents and owners that, throughout time, contributed for its refinement and splendour.

In 2010, PAÇO DE PALMEIRA begins a new and dynamic stage of its life. Purchased by Carlos Dias, Chairman and sole shareholder of the Portuguese economic Group IDEALTOWER and reputed international businessman, this property is now a part of IDEALDRINKS' universe.

Since then, the vineyard of this property gained a new encouragement and vocation. In the first stage, the IDEALDRINKS team, that includes the experienced collaboration of the reputed oenologist and wine consultant Pascal Chatonnet, of French nationality, performed a detailed diagnostic soil test on the property. On the basis of this test, it was chosen to recondition the existing vineyards thus adopting a guidance and compass for the vineyard that are innovative in the Region.

Currently with about 28 hectares, the original vineyard was expanded through new plantations. Benefiting from the unique conditions of the site and a careful and rigorous viticulture, it originates the best grapes of the native variety Loureiro, from which are made the elegant monovarietal Eminência and Royal Palmeira. Excellent wines worthy of the palace that originates them.
