In 1969, Jean Gautreau is looking for a wine estate for sale for one of his Belgian customers, he discovered Sociando-Mallet in the town of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. It has a real crush on this property, yet in poor condition, but offering a magnificent panorama of the estuary of the Gironde.

Today, 83 hectares produce nearly 450,000 bottles of Château Sociando-Mallet and its second wine, La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet. Jean Gautreau sold his business in 2000 and is now exclusively dedicated to the management of his winery.
