Description
Château Picque Caillou is located at the gateway to the city, in the heart of the historic birthplace of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Close to the famous Château Haut-Brion, Château Picque Caillou extends over 25 hectares of vines at the gateway to Bordeaux, the historic birthplace of the appellation.
Under the decisive impetus of Paulin and Isabelle Calvet, this superb gravelly terroir has been given all the assets needed to make a great wine.
The vines are ploughed and cultivated without the use of weedkillers, the grapes are harvested by hand, followed by a drastic selection process and a 12-month ageing period in 40% new barrels. The result is a wine of great lineage, remarkable for its balance and delicacy.
Together with their 5 children, they have been working since 2000 to revive a house that had long been uninhabited, returning it to its former glory and organising numerous tastings and receptions.
