Description
Aberlour's Double Cask Matured whiskies are available in 12, 14, 16 and 18 year old bottlings. Each additional year of maturation gives the whisky deeper, more multifaceted flavours and more intense colour. "Double maturation" means maturation in American oak casks on the one hand and maturation in sherry-infused casks on the other. The 14-year-old whisky was first bottled in 2020, with the batch number printed on the front of the bottle. The Aberlour team made the spirit from different casks that had been filled around 14 years earlier in Speyside. Indeed, any Single Malt that is not labelled as "Single Cask" is ultimately a compilation of casks, which have been carefully tasted and judged to be "mature" by the master blender. The aim of this 14 year old Single Malt was to find an optimal balance between sweet-fruity blackberries and spices.
