Description
Airy, greedy, generous
Nature is beautiful and generous. The lightness of the sea breeze, the freshness of eucalyptus, the brightness of red fruit and cocoa flavours... Goulée by Cos d'Estournel evokes afternoons spent walking by the sea and the invigorating air shared with friends, as well as the gourmet moment and the subdued light in a bistro facing the ocean. Wild and immediate, frank and generous, assertive and smiling, Goulée by Cos d'Estournel reveals its personality, unvarnished.
Located in the northern part of the Médoc, the Port de Goulée, a humble local port, inspired the name of this new cuvée. The vineyard of Goulée by Cos d'Estournel is one of the last we come across as we travel up the Gironde, 30 kilometres north of Cos d'Estournel. This splendid terroir changed ownership in 2000 to become part of the overall wine estate.
However, it was not until 2004 that the first vintage was marketed. Facing the Gironde estuary, the vineyard is located on a gravel hill. Its terroir has long benefited from the water that surrounds it, which gives Goulée by Cos d'Estournel a soil worthy of the great wines of Cos d'Estournel.
Tasting
Nose: There are tantalising notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and sour black cherry.
Palate: The first sip reveals firm tannins, a well-constructed structure and notes of cigar box spice, graphite, leather and crushed wild berries.
