Description
Petit Figeac is the second wine of Château Figeac, 1er Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion, embodies the excellence of a grand cru of its appellation by following in the footsteps of its elder. Petit Figeac is made from a selection of young vines of Château Figeac.
The largest estate in Saint-Emilion (41 ha of vines planted on 3 croups of Gunzian gravel), located west of the city, on the edge of Pomerol. An atypical vineyard, with a Medoc accent, 70% Cabernet, equally divided between Franc and Sauvignon, adapted to its gravelly terroir. A high place of the appellation shaped by the Manoncourt family, owner since 1892, and especially by Thierry, who died in 2010, to whom we owe the "Figeac style" and this original grape variety. His wife and 4 daughters entrusted the co-management in 2013 to Jean-Valmy Nicolas (co-manager of La Conseillante in Pomerol) and the general management to Frédéric Faye, his former technical director. Since the 2012 vintage, Michel Rolland has been the consulting winemaker for this 1st Grand Cru Classé B since 1955.

Tasting
It immediately charms with fresh aromas of blackcurrant, elderberry, wild cherry and stone fruit. The moderate ageing in used barrels gives it a fine and elegant spicy character. In its current fruity phase, it is already a pleasure to taste thanks to this beautiful combination. The great potential of this vintage, however, also has the capacity to delight fans of mature wines in the distant future.
