Description
Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, located in Pauillac in the Médoc, is a Second Grand Cru Classé according to the 1855 classification. Covering 102 hectares, the vineyard is made up of more than 90 separate plots. Since 2007, the estate has belonged to the Rouzaud family, who also own the Louis Roederer Champagne house. The Réserve de la Comtesse, the château's second wine, was created in 1973 and accounts for between 20% and 50% of total production, offering a more accessible expression of the Pauillac terroir.
Tasting
To the eye: A brilliant garnet-red colour.
On the nose: Empyreumatic aromas of roasted tobacco and precious woods, accompanied by fruity and floral notes.
On the palate: Spicy attack, straightforward and silky with voluptuous tannins, long, persistent, deep and refined finish.
Food and wine pairing: Ideal with grilled red meats, sauce dishes and mature cheeses.
Serving temperature: Serve between 16 and 18°C.
