Description
After the vine and the people, Ariane de Rothschild wanted to celebrate the land and the architecture. At her request, Gilles Chabrier imagined and created bottles that are "as visual as they are tactile" and that sublimate the Baron Edmond 2016 plot selection of Château des Laurets.
In the landscape, rows and furrows draw lines of vines, lines of life, while plumb lines and vanishing lines sign the architecture and order the symmetry of the château. The artist has stylised these signs which enclose the body of each of the 36 magnums and 36 double magnums of this vintage, constituting a collection of unique numbered pieces.
Three layers of liquid gold cover the engraved bottle. Like the natural elements and the centuries that ennoble facades through erosion, the artist has sandblasted the gold to leave only traces, vestiges, and confer the patina that only time allows. And since this property exists only through the grace of its terroir, a few grams of its nourishing earth are invited into the furrows that run along the bottle.
Tailor-made boxes of absolute transparency reveal all the beauty of the magnums and double magnums. These cases protect the wine from vibrations, temperature variations and ultraviolet rays to allow it to improve until the optimum moment of tasting.
From content to container, the quest for excellence is endless. The quintessence of Château des Laurets expressed in this plot selection deserves an environment in perfect harmony. With the artist Gilles Chabrier, Ariane de Rothschild has taken care of the smallest detail to offer collectors a unique piece.
The Baron Edmond cuvée comes from the oldest Merlot parcels in the immediate vicinity of the château. The average age of the vines, planted at 6,660 plants per hectare, is 70 years. The grapes are harvested by hand. A double sorting process guarantees impeccable fruit.
