Description
Château Clarke is named after the Irish family who bought this vast estate in 1771. After more than two centuries of winemaking tradition and successive inheritances, the property was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973. A wine enthusiast like his illustrious family, Edmond de Rothschild dreamed of owning an intimate, discreet vineyard that he would make his masterpiece. With a passion for the art of living and excellence, he made Château Clarke the icon of its appellation. The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean gives the terroir a freshness that is reflected in the aromatic brilliance of the wine. The terroir is very favourable to the cultivation of the Merlot grape variety, in a region more traditionally known for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. Château Clarke thus possesses a completely original Medoc character.

Tasting
Eye : The 2018 Clarke has a beautiful purple colour with a purple border.
Nose : Deep garnet, Clarke 2018 has a nose of great complexity, both ripe and spicy, minty and finely toasted. When aired, notes of morello cherry, thyme and vanilla complete this rich and intense palette.
Mouth : The attack is ample, smooth and very fresh. The fine notes of perfectly melted wood envelop a structure carried by ripe and serious tannins. The whole is long and tasty.
Ageing potential : 15 years
Serving temperature : 16° C
Fabrice Darmaillacq - Technical Director of Château Clarke
"At Château Clarke, this 2018 vintage was the fruit of obstinacy. The capricious weather in winter and spring gave way to a superb summer! All the conditions were met for an exceptional harvest. This vintage was hard on our nerves on its first part and a pure, unhoped-for joy at its conclusion."
