Description
Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained an independent family business. After more than 200 years of existence, Louis Roederer is still in the hands of the same family. Today, headed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the family line, Louis Roederer embodies the excellence of Champagne wines around the world, with cuvées crafted like works of art.
244 is the House's 244th blend since its creation. Collection 244 by Louis Roederer is a cuvée made from the 2019 vintage to which have been added 10% reserve wines aged in wood and 36% perpetual reserve.
Tasting
Eye: A lovely golden yellow colour. The effervescence is delicate and regular.
Nose: Ample, the nose exhales fragrances of ripe fruit (vine peach, william pear) and citrus fruit (lemon, blood orange) with savoury iodine and smoky notes conferred by the ageing in wood. Supported by a fine freshness, the bouquet reveals notes of chalk and a subtle reduction with aeration, suggesting the power and aromatic concentration of this champagne.
Mouth: A powerful, mouth-watering attack is followed by a juicy, concentrated texture reminiscent of ripe fruit. Soft and enveloping, the palate seduces with its fine effervescence, subtle roasted notes and the freshness of the chalky soil.
