Description
Were there "charmes" (beech trees) growing here at one time? Or were people just referring to the characteristics of the wine? A 19th Century official document does mention the "untilled land of charmes"...
Tasting
"Chambertin is a wine that gives unique sensations, a kaleidoscope of flavours and aromas. The hue is deep with an intense ruby colour. Flavours are opulent and earthy. They evoke black cherry, bitter chocolate then liquorice, black truffle and underbrush. With its massive backbone of velvety tannins in near perfect balance, it has great potential for ageing".

The wines display bright red shades. They are charming and full. The Grands Crus can be kept over 10 years. They are similar to 2011 wines with a little more concentration.
