Description
Quinta do Vallado, established in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous estates in the Douro Valley.
It is located on the banks of the Corgo River, a tributary of the Douro River, right next to its mouth and close to the town of Peso da Régua.
It belonged to the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira and remains to this day in the hands of her descendants.
ABF 1888 Vallado Port Wine was bottled in 2016, to commemorate 300 years of Quinta do Vallado. The name ABF is a tribute to António Bernardo Ferreira I, the grandfather of the current owners who acquired Quinta do Vallado in 1818
Tasting
Nose : This extraordinary Port wine has a very attractive mahogany colour, with greenish hues when shaken in the glass, clear evidence of the wine's age. The aroma is very complex and rich, full of hints of dried fruit, vinegar, iodine and spices, and a very fresh and harmonious finish.
Palate : The palate confirms and reaffirms the immense freshness promised by the nose. Although the wine is very rich, silky, concentrated and dense, it finishes with an acidity combining with perfect harmony, which gives it an explosive and almost endless finish.
