Description
Tenuta San Guido, located in Bolgheri in Tuscany, is the birthplace of Sassicaia, a wine that has revolutionised the Italian wine landscape. In the 1940s, Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta planted Bordeaux grape varieties on stony soils, inspired by the great French crus. This bold gamble gave birth to Sassicaia, whose name means ‘stony place’, in reference to its unique terroir. Since it was first marketed in 1968, Sassicaia has become a global icon, renowned for its elegance and exceptional ageing capacity.

Tasting
Eye : Powerful, sparkling ruby.
Nose : Intense and clear with lots of incisive fruit, redcurrant and blackberry, then fine notes of cedar needles and spicy cedar wood, slight resinous notes in the background.
Mouth : The attack is cold and polished. It opens up with grippy, dense tannins in many layers. It builds for a long time and is very powerful at the back with intense pressure and a very long persistence. The finish has a discreet note of tobacco and mint.
Food and wine pairing : Main dishes with red meat, game
Ideal for drinking : 2022-2055
Serving temperature : 16/18 °C
Contains sulfites
