Whisky Macallan 18 Ans doube Cask 18 Ans

The term 'Double Cask' is fairly common in the whisky world. Producers are keen to point out that the whisky has matured in two different types of cask - generally American bourbon casks and European sherry casks. This maturation can take place simultaneously or consecutively, in which case it is known as 'finishing'. The Macallan is known the world over for its sherry cask-influenced whiskies. The 15-year-old single malt presented here has rested in American and European oak casks, which were first filled with Oloroso sherry. The Macallan uses the term 'sherry seasoned casks' in this context - an indication that the casks have been 'seasoned' with sherry for several years, particularly at the request of the whisky producer. Old Spanish sherry casks have become extremely rare these days! The whisky's flavour profile is full of sherry aromas: raisins, oranges, ginger, caramel, vanilla, spicy wood, cloves and nutmeg.

Nose: notes of dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Powerful aromas of orange with a hint of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: raisins and sultanas with hints of caramel, vanilla and ginger. Very well balanced with pleasant spices and zesty citrus aromas.
