Description
Founded in 1765 by Irish military officer Richard Hennessy and his eldest son James, Hennessy is one of the world's leading cognac producers. For over 250 years, Hennessy has been making its cognacs in the heart of its native Charente region. Responsible and committed to the protection of its terroir, Hennessy makes the world shine.
The Hennessy family has entrusted the tasting of its cognacs to the Fillioux family, Master Blenders from generation to generation. This lineage has been perpetuated for two centuries now. Renaud Fillioux from Gironde represents the eighth generation in charge of blending.
The House of Hennessy stands out for its expertise, its uniqueness and the excellence of its know-how, which is reflected in the cuvées that are recognised worldwide for their exceptional quality.
Tasting
With its rich and complex architecture, the XO cuvée is made from a new and original blend called Extra Old (XO) made from old eaux de vie.
It was originally created for an intimate circle of friends in 1870 by two passionate men: Maurice Hennessy (fourth generation of Hennessy) and Emile Fillioux (third generation of Master Blenders). It was during a lunch at the Château de Bagnolet that the first bottle of Extra Old cognac was tasted by those close to the two creators.
The XO cuvée is presented in a stylish decanter designed by Frank Gehry in a magnificent black and gold box.
