Description
The Morand distillery has been operating in this region since 1889, nestling in the vineyards and orchards planted on the slopes of the Alps and the Rhône Valley. Once famous the world over for its absinthe, and still today run by the fourth generation of the Morand family, its products are distributed in over 30 countries. Thanks to the many hours of sunshine in Martigny, the nature of the soil and the proximity of the Rhône, particularly sweet fruits ripen here and are processed at the distillery in maceration and distillation vats that can produce up to six million litres a year and have a storage capacity of 800,000 litres. Little is known about the composition of génépi liqueur. Each distillery has its own recipe, which is often hidden from the public. What is certain is that génépi liqueur has a pronounced taste of Alpine herbs.
Tasting
Nose: Typical of genepi and mountain plants.
Palate: Round, herbaceous and very mild.
Food and wine pairing: Ideal as an after-dinner drink at room temperature, chilled or on the rocks, depending on taste. Goes very well in cocktails with coffee, or for dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
